A Parent's Warning: This Simple Mistake Made Our Online Glasses Order Unusable 😡
I’m sharing this as a warning about my terrible online shopping experience. We ordered glasses for our 12-year-old, but he had trouble seeing with them. A trip to the doctor confirmed the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. My direct feeling is that the glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value of 62 (adult) or another value for kids. Of course, that means the value will be wrong for many buyers. This critical error forced me into a frustrating conversation with customer service to fix their mistake.
Customer: I’m contacting you because my son’s new glasses are unusable. We took him to the doctor, who confirmed the pupil distance is wrong. Your website never asked for this measurement.
CS Rep: I am very sorry to hear about the issue with your son's glasses. Could you please provide your order number so I can assist you?
Customer: The order number is XXXXX. This is a huge problem. Why does your site assume a PD value instead of requiring it? He can't see properly because of this.
CS Rep: Thank you. I understand your frustration, and I apologize for the oversight in our ordering process. We can remake the lenses with the correct PD at no charge.
Customer: So what happens now? Do I have to send them back and leave my son without glasses while we wait for a replacement?
CS Rep: Yes, you will need to mail back the original pair first. I can email you a prepaid return label and the link to start the exchange process.
